Freshman pitcher Sarah Ropiak (Acton, MA) had an impressive weekend for the Bears, playing a significant role in all three of Brown's wins at the Towson Classic.
On Friday, she braved the cold weather conditions to
earn her first win for Brown, a 2-1 victory over Towson, pitching
seven complete innings and allowing just one run. During Ropiak's
stellar outing, she gave up only four hits and one walk, while
striking out four batters.
In Saturday's 3-1 win over Lafayette, she had another impressive outing for the Bears, going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and receiving her second win of the season. Ropiak pitched six scoreless innings before giving up one run in the seventh. She gave up five hits, struck out one batter and walked none.
Finally, in Brown's last game of the weekend, a 3-2 win over Morgan State, Ropiak relieved sophomore Jessica Cherness (Torrance, CA) on the mound in the seventh inning, earning her first save when she allowed one run on one hit and struck out two batters.
The Bears will take a weekend off before
traveling to Dover, Delaware to participate in the Delaware State
Tournament from March 22nd to March 24th.
