Junior Briana Borgolini (Ballston Spa, NY) raced to two first place finishes in the 2012 Brown Invitational, held at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center this past weekend. Swimming in the 100 breaststroke during the Saturday night finals session, Borgolini claimed a commanding victory, touching first in a time of 1:01.73, less than two-tenths of a second shy of her school record in the event. In Sunday's 200 breaststroke, Borgolini tied her school record of 2:14.41 en route to the victory. Both swims made the NCAA 'B' cut time.
Borgolini also swam the breaststroke leg on both the 200 medley relay and the 400 medley relay for the Bears, combining with her teammates for a third place finish in each event. Her split times in both races were the fastest recorded amongst the meet's female swimmers. Brown claimed third place in team scores for the weekend, edging out Ivy League rivals Dartmouth and Columbia.
The Bears will return to the water on Saturday, January 5 when they take on Providence College in a 1:00pm meet across town.
