Brown Athletics Unveils Brown Bears Sports Properties As Its Dedicated Corporate Sponsorship Sales Unit

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– Brown University Athletics, in conjunction with Learfield Sports, has developed Brown Bears Sports Properties as its exclusive corporate sponsorship sales unit, as announced today by Director of Athletics Jack Hayes. This dedicated unit is designed to support Brown Athletics’ initiative to enhance the service provided to local and regional businesses and further promote the Brown brand affinity to the corporate community.

Leading Brown Bears Sports Properties is General Manager Augusto “Cookie” Rojas, who most recently served eight years as general sales manager for the Pawtucket Red Sox and taught sports management for nearly five years at Johnson & Wales University. Nelligan Sports Marketing, Brown Athletics’ former marketing partner, was acquired by Learfield Sports in early February. Brown Bears Sports Properties will office on campus, which will allow a close working relationship with the entire Brown Athletics administration. The property manages all aspects of the multimedia rights including venue signage, event sponsorships/marketing, corporate hospitality, radio game broadcasts and coaches’ shows, television and digital sponsorships, including the official athletic website www.brownbears.com.

Brown Athletics and Rhode Island Interscholastic League Forge Championships Agreement

Providence, Rhode Island - Brown Athletics and the Rhode Island Interscholastic League have reached an agreement for RIIL Championship in basketball, ice hockey, swimming & diving, lacrosse and track & field to be held on the Brown University campus in an announcement made by Brown Athletic Director Jack Hayes and RIIL Executive Director Tom Mezzanotte.

 

“Brown is committed to supporting high school athletics and is thrilled to be partnering with the Rhode Island Interscholastic League,” said Hayes.  “We are excited to welcome the many communities of Rhode Island to the Brown campus for these championships.”

 

“Over the years the RIIL and countless student-athletes have enjoyed a great relationship with Brown University,” said Mezzanotte.  “Thanks to the encouragement and leadership of Brown’s new Athletic Director Jack Hayes we are pleased to announce an expanded partnership over the next three years. Through this partnership our high school athletes, fans and families will have the opportunity to visit the Brown University Campus, and our championship teams will compete on some of the best facilities in Rhode Island.”

 

The RIIL Boy’s Basketball Divisional Championships (DI, DII, DIII) will be held at the Pizzitola Sports Center on February 24, 2013.  Both the RIIL Boy’s and Girl’s Ice Hockey Championship will return to Meehan Auditorium, March 6-18, 2013.

 

Lacrosse will be hosted at Stevenson Field’s new Poly Turf playing surface with the RIIL Boy’s and Girl’s Lacrosse Championships being held May 29 & 30, and June 1 & 2, 2013. The Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center will be the site of the RIIL Boy’s & Girls Swimming & Diving Championships, February 16 & 17, 2013, while the RIIL Boy’s and Girl’s Track & Field Championships will be held at Brown Stadium on June 1, 2013.
