Robert Kenneally ‘90, a Warwick, Rhode Island native,
became Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services in
2002, and was recently named Senior Associate Director. In
September of 2012, Kenneally was promoted to Executive Associate
Director of Athletics.
As Executive Associate Director of Athletics, Kenneally is second
in charge and has a myriad of responsibilities within the athletic
department. He oversees the daily operations of the department,
serves on the admissions board in the recruitment of
student-athletes, and is the liaison to the department of Financial
Aid.
Kenneally is also the sport supervisor for football, baseball, women’s basketball, gymnastics, men’s ice hockey, and men’s soccer, and oversees the Budget and Finance Office, Athletic Communications and Marketing and Promotions. He also is the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, oversees eligibility and is a University Academic Advisor.
He also serves on various committees both outside and within
Brown including; The Dave Zucconi Fellowship Committee, The Derrick
Canfield Barker Prize, The ECAC Award of Valor Committee, The ECAC
Hockey League Finance Committee and the Brown Alcohol and Other
Drug Committee.
Prior to becoming Associate Athletic Director in 2002, Kenneally
was an Assistant Athletic Director and also served as the head
men's and women's golf coach/Director of Golf Operations from 1998
- 2002.
A 1990 graduate of Brown, Kenneally enjoyed an outstanding
four-year career as a high scoring forward for the Brown hockey
team, leading the team in scoring in 1987-1988. As a senior,
Kenneally received the Charles A. Lanigan Memorial Trophy, given to
the senior hockey player who shows the most improvement, leadership
and dedication during his varsity career. He received his Bachelor
of Arts degree in Organizational Behavior and Management.
After graduation from Brown, he spent a year teaching biology and
algebra, and coaching hockey and baseball at the Rectory School in
Pomfret, Connecticut. He returned to the Brown campus in the fall
of 1991, starting his career in the department of athletics.
An avid golfer, Kenneally is a 1985 graduate of Warwick Veterans
Memorial High School where he made his mark as a standout
student-athlete. In 2000, he was inducted into Warwick Veterans
High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He spent a postgraduate year at
the Kent School in Connecticut before entering Brown in 1986. Bob
and his wife Valerie and their two children Matthew and Megan
currently reside in Cranston, Rhode Island.
