Ten Fall Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-Ivy Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Ten Brown University student-athletes garnered Academic All-Ivy accolades in an announcement made by the Ivy League on Wednesday.  The five men and five women were key contributors to their respective fall teams with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Michael Yules (South Dartmouth, Mass.), Heidi Caldwell (Hanover, N.H.), and Alison Mullin (Boulder, Colo) earned the honors for the second consecutive season.
 

MEN
James McNamara | Senior | Water Polo | Encino, Calif.
History

CWPA Northern Division First Team selection; third on the team with 53 goals; competed at the 19th World Maccabiah Games last July.

Alexander Norocea | Senior | Football | Hermosa Beach, Calif.
Business, Entrepreneurship, Organizations

First Team All-Ivy; CoSIDA/Capital One First Team Academic All-District; All-New England Football Team selection; third in Ivy League history with 44 field goals.

Adewole Oyalowo | Senior | Football | Bowie, Md.
Neuroscience

First Team All-Ivy; CoSIDA Capital One First Team Academic All-District; second on the team with 63 tackles; third in the Ivy League with 12 tackles for loss.

Josh Weiner | Senior | Soccer | Armonk, N.Y.
Business, Entrepreneurship, Organizations

Honorable Mention All-Ivy; 2013 NEISL All-Star; Ivy League leader in saves (67); three shutouts in 2013.

WOMEN
MC Barrett | Senior | Soccer | Ithaca, N.Y.

Economics

Second Team All-Ivy; recorded an .800 save percentage and 1.00 goals against average while playing in the second half of all 17 games; credited with seven of Brown’s 10 wins in 2013.

Heidi Caldwell | Senior | Cross Country | Hanover, N.H.
Environmental Studies

Placed 24th overall at the NCAA Northeast Regional; 11th overall at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships; placed second overall while the team placed first at the Rothenburg Race.

Kathryn Conner | Junior | Volleyball | Newport Beach, Calif.
Economics

CoSIDA/Capital One First Academic All-District; first on the team and fifth in the Ivy League in digs per set (3.68); ranks fifth all-time at Brown with 3.64 digs per set.

Shannon McSweeney | Junior | Field Hockey | Boxborough, Mass.
Mechanical Engineering

Tri-captain; Honorable Mention All-Ivy; ranked third in the Ivy League in save percentange (.771) and first in saves per game (10.1).

Alison Mullin | Senior | Soccer | Boulder, Colo.
Cognitive Neuroscience

CoSIDA/Capital One First Academic All-District; recorded both of her goals on Nov. 8 at Yale; Academic All-Ivy in 2012.
