Men’s Tennis’ Tarwid Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Team Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Brown senior Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-America At-Large Team on Thursday as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Tarwid gained First Team honors after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA for the men's tennis team. The Economics concentrator led the Bears in win percentage for singles in the spring season, compiling a 14-2 record on his way to Second Team All-Ivy laurels. A First Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy selection in 2016, Tarwid wrapped up his collegiate career 18th all-time at Brown for career singles wins.

The at-large teams for the Google Cloud Academic All-America program include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming & diving, tennis and water polo for both men and women, as well as beach volleyball, bowling, field hockey and rowing for women, and volleyball and wrestling for men.

No less than 38 of the 45 members of the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Men's At-Large Team have at least a 3.90 GPA, with 27 student-athletes maintaining a 4.00 GPA (or better) as either undergraduate or graduate students. The 17 members of the first team (which was expanded due to ties in the voting) have an average GPA of 4.01.
