PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown seniors Kevin Li (Vancouver, B.C.) and Peter Tarwid (Lake Forest, Ill.) and junior Amy Tarczynski (Oakland, Calif.) were named to their respective 2017-18 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Teams on Thursday as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, as only student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and are significant contributors to their team's success are eligible for nomination.
All three Brown student-athletes will advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
Li, from the men's golf team, earned First Team All-Ivy honors this past season for the Bears, the program's first First Team accolade since 2014. The Computer Science-Economics concentrator placed fourth at the Ivy League Championship with rounds of 76-69-76, leading the field after the second day of competition. As a sophomore, Li earned Second Team All-Ivy laurels after a 10th-place finish at the conference championship.
Tarwid, from the men's tennis team, was named Second Team All-Ivy for singles following his impressive senior campaign. The Economics concentrator led the Bears in win percentage for singles in the spring season, compiling a 14-2 record. A First Team All-Ivy and Academic All-Ivy selection in 2016, Tarwid wrapped up his collegiate career 18th all-time at Brown for career singles wins.
Tarczynski, from the women's crew team, helped the second varsity eight finish fifth at the 2017 NCAA Championships. She also contributed to Brown's first-place team finishes at the 2016 and 2017 Ivy League Championships, which included an Ivy Championship with the second varsity eight in 2017 and a title with the B varsity four in 2016. The Economics concentrator also earned CRCA Scholar-Athlete honors in 2017.
