Olympic Update: Weinstock ’14 Takes Ninth in Four-Man Bobsled

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University track & field alumnus Evan Weinstock '14 completed the second of his two Olympic events on Sunday as he finished ninth in the four-man bobsled at the Olympic Sliding Center.

Weinstock, along with pilot Codie Bascue, Steve Langton (Northeastern) and Sam McGuffie (Rice), posted a four-run time of 3:17.28. That was 1.43 seconds behind the winning time of 3:15.85 by Germany's Francesco Friedrich.

Weinstock was part of the fasted American sled in the four-man event. Nick Cunningham, along with Hakeem Abdul-Saboor, Chris Kinney and Sam Michener, placed 19th with an overall time of 3:18.54, while Justin Olsen, Nathan Weber, Carlo Valdes and Chris Fogt were 0.01 seconds behind their teammates to finish 20th.

The former track & field decathlete also turned in a 14-place finish in the two-man bobsled earlier in the week, posting the fastest time for a US sled. Fellow Brown alum Lauren Gibbs '06 won silver in the women's bobsled, becoming Brown's first female medalist at the winter Olympics outside of the sport of women's ice hockey.
