Position: Assistant Director of Athletics - Recreation

Matthew Tsimikas arrived at Brown University in February 2001 as the Assistant Director of Athletics. His responsibilities include overseeing Brown's physical education, club sports, intramurals programs and satellite fitness centers as well as managing the Olney-Margolies Athletic Center known as the "OMAC." Additionally, he serves as the varsity sports administrator for men's & women's water polo, men's & women's fencing, and 16 competitive club sport programs.

Prior to coming to Brown University, Tsimikas served as the Coordinator of Intramural, Club Sports & Physical Education for two years at Princeton University and at James Madison University. Outside the realm of intercollegiate athletics & recreation, Tsimikas has worked with various professional sports organizations. Currently, Tsimikas is working part-time for the New England Patriots & New England Revolution ticket offices during their respective seasons. In 1998, he worked with the Sales, Ticketing and Marketing teams for the Boston Celtics. Matthew is also a well respected member of the (NIRSA) National Intramural Recreational Sports Association community and has held various leadership positions over the past 13 years of his active membership

Tsimikas received a B.S. in Physical Education concentrating in fitness & wellness from the University of Rhode Island. In 1999, he received an M.S. in Athletics Administration with a concentration in Coaching from James Madison University.

Tsimikas' immediate and long-term goals at Brown are to promote a healthier environment for the Brown University community by providing opportunities and activities to enhance healthy lifestyle choices for all students, faculty & staff. Advancing these goals with a commitment to exceptional facilities and programming, he also seeks to fulfill his role in planning and designing the long awaited Jonathan Nelson Fitness & Recreation Center on Brown's campus.

Tsimikas, a native Rhode Islander lives in Warwick, Rhode Island.
