Elysce Tackmann joined the Brown University volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach in August of 2013. Tackmann comes to Brown from Rhode Island College, where she served as head coach for two seasons.
At RIC, Tackmann oversaw all elements of the volleyball program and was responsible for conducting practices, recruiting, and managing student-athlete success both on and off the court. She led the Anchorwomen to a 16-13 record in 2011 and qualified for the conference tournament in back-to-back seasons.
Tackmann joined the RIC staff after a three-year stint as the head women’s volleyball coach at Anna Maria College. Under her tutelage, the Amcats received the Commonwealth Coast Conference’s Team Sportsmanship Award in 2008 and 2010, while establishing the program record for wins in a season in 2010.
A 2007 graduate from Bryant University with a degree in communications, Tackmann was a standout player for the Bulldogs and helped lead the team to three straight Northeast-10 Conference Tournament titles and four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. In 2003, Bryant advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen. The Bulldogs were a dominant fixture in the Northeast-10 landscape from 2003-2005, going undefeated in league play for two straight seasons, backboned by a 37-match winning streak. Bryant became the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Champions all three seasons and also grabbed the regular season championship in both 2003 and 2004.
Tackmann is a current member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA), the Professional Association of Volleyball Officials, the Women's Sports Foundation and the New England Region Yankee Volleyball Organization. She played as a setter for Team New England of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) in 2011-12.
