Brett Crossland was hired as Brown University’s assistant
strength and conditioning coach in February 2010. Crossland’s
primary responsibilities at Brown will be to design and supervise
in-season, off-season and summer strength and conditioning programs
for 15 varsity teams, which include baseball, women's basketball,
equestrian, men's golf, men's & women's ice hockey, men's &
women's lacrosse, skiing, softball, men's & women's swimming
& diving, men's tennis, and men's & women's water polo. He
has also worked with the men's basketball, gymnastics, women's
soccer, and volleyball teams. Crossland will also assist with the
rest of the 37 varsity athletic teams at Brown.
Prior to his arrival at Brown, Crossland was an assistant strength
& conditioning coach at the University of Pennsylvania. With
the Quakers, he was in charge of design and implementation of
strength and conditioning programs for women’s basketball,
softball, field hockey, track & field, crew, fencing, squash,
gymnastics, cross country and wrestling. He also aided in the
design of a new strength & conditioning facility at UPenn, and
also assisted in the implementation of the football strength and
conditioning program.
Crossland also spent time as a strength and conditioning intern
with the United States Olympic Committee in Lake Placid, NY, and
later became an apprentice to the strength and conditioning
coordinator. He played a key roll in the assisting the design,
implementation, and supervision of strength and conditioning
programs for national, international, and Olympic athletes. He
managed several Junior Developmental Camps and assisted in
physiological performance testing on world-class athletes.
Crossland was also a graduate assistant from 2006-2008 at
Midwestern State University in the Kinesiology Department, and also
served as an Olympic Weightlifting Coach at the USA Weightlifting
Regional Development Center at Midwestern State University.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at
Midwestern State in 2006 and went on to receive his Masters of
Science with a Concentration in Exercise Physiology. He is a
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the
NSCA, and the CSCCa, and is CPR/AED Certified through the American
Red Cross.
