Jeanne Carhart was named Assistant Director of Athletics for Administration in August 2013. Since September of 2012, she had served as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications, after 12 years as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. In her new role, she will provide direction and coordination in key administrative areas of the department encompassing human resources, fundraising, the admissions process and policy development.
Carhart came to Brown in July of 2000 as an Assistant Sports Information Director. During her tenure in the Communications office, she handled all media demands and publicity for 14 of Brown's 37 squads, most recently working with field hockey, men's ice hockey, women's lacrosse, skiing, women's soccer, and men's & women's tennis.
Carhart also worked with the Director of Athletics on several projects and served as the communications director for the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Regional at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, hosted by Brown, March 30-31, 2013. In 2011, Carhart earned a Brown University Excellence Award for her help in developing a series of interactive magazines for various Brown sports.
In March of 2005, she was the official statistician for the ECAC
Hockey League Championships, serving the the same capacity for TV
at the 2004 Championships. In 2003, she volunteered at the NCAA
East Regional at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, RI, while
also helping with the ECAC Women's Championships, held at Brown's
Meehan Auditorium. In 2001, Carhart volunteered at the NCAA Men's
Basketball East Regional First and Second Round games at Nassau
Coliseum, in Uniondale, NY. While helping at the Tournament, she
assisted with several areas, including serving as a member of the
Carhart came to Brown from Towson University where she was a Sports Information Intern for the 1999-2000 school year. While at Towson, she served as the primary media contact for volleyball, women's basketball and women's lacrosse in addition to assisting with several other sports. Prior to her stint at Towson, she was an undergraduate assistant to the Sports Information Director at Drew University for two years. A four-year member of the women's lacrosse team at Drew, she assisted with the 2000 STX Lacrosse Festival and women's lacrosse North/South All-Star Games, held at Towson.
A native of Manasquan, New Jersey she is a 1999 graduate of Drew University where she earned a B.A. in Psychobiology. She is active in high school and youth lacrosse, serving as the head girls lacrosse coach at Moses Brown School, winning the RI Division I State Championship in both 2008 and 2012.
She resides in Rumford with her husband, Christopher Keith, the Director of Information Technology for the Office of the Dean of the College at Brown.
